Metro Hotel Miranda, with Botany Bay behind it and Sydney in the distance.
Miranda is a suburb in the middle of the Sutherland Shire, part of the Sydney Metropolitan Area. I know about Miranda because that is where I grew up. I went to the local Miranda Primary School and then onto Port Hacking High School. Now since I was a little girl I was aware of the Metro Hotel Miranda and that was because it was near the church I attended. But I always thought, why is there a hotel in Miranda and why would anyone stay there? Well, now I am grown and currently live in Melbourne I had to return to Miranda to attend my best friend’s mum’s funeral. As I don’t have family anymore in the Sutherland Shire I needed somewhere to stay. And the first place that came to my mind was the Metro Hotel Miranda. So that is why the Metro Hotel Miranda was there, for people like me who needed somewhere to stay in the Sutherland Shire. And I must say, I was pleasantly surprised.

The Room

My room was spacious and the bed very comfortable
My room had recently been renovated, like most of the rooms in the hotel. I was suppose to be at the front of the hotel where I am advised the rooms have a balcony and feature spectacular views towards Botany Bay and into Sydney. However, when I arrived, they advised me I had been upgraded to a newly renovated room. When I found it, it wasn’t at the front of the hotel but on the side. The view I had was a view over the Miranda Westfield Shopping Centre, a place I had shopped many a time and know it affectionately as Miranda Fair, what it was called from my child hood.
My room had many features. Air conditioning, a refrigerator with a couple of cold glasses inside, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities a flat screen TV with 8 Foxtel channels and most importantly, a queen size bed. Not that I needed a queen size bed, but it was nice to have one anyway. The bathroom had also been newly renovated with a large shower, complimentary toiletries and a hair dryer.

The bathroom was spacious
Breakfast wasn’t included in the tariff, but that didn’t matter as I planned on heading over to the food court in Miranda Westfield Shopping Centre to have breakfast.
